London in Autumn can be truly beautiful. Walking along the river, just past the Tower of London is a little restaurant named Perkin Reveller. Rather understated from the outside, but with spectacular views I was expecting it to be quite over priced, I was however misinformed.
What did I eat? I had the Pumpkin and Ricotta Strudel with buttered cabbage and red pepper sauce. I'd never had a savoury strudel before, but if I see it on a menu again I shall definitely be ordering it.
What I ordered to drink? I ordered the Rhubarb and Custard Cocktail, description:
“This twist on a classic sweet combination is made with Beefeater gin, shaken with rhubarb liqueurs, apple and lemon juice. Served in a traditional sniffing glass, it comes with an extra special garnish in the form of a mini pot of rhubarb and custard ice cream. ”
What arrived? Well, what arrived was slightly different to the description. The glass was a little different, and I couldn't taste the apple or lemon juice within the gin and rhubarb liqueur, and the custard ice-cream was actually a sorbet. That being said, it was still beautifully presented and tasted great (albeit v. strong!!).
The price? Strudel - £13.50, Cocktail £10, and a side of mash potato £3.50 - plus a 12.5% service charge. The staff were very attentive, knew the details of the menu, and were extremely polite so well worth it.
In my opinion, tasty food for a great price, and that location...
