Le Thor - Avignon, France

I am currently in the gorgeous (and very warm!) Avignon, France. Avignon is in the Provence region, set on the Rhone River. The area in which I am staying is actually called Le Thor, it's about 20minutes on the train from Avignon City Centre.

Le Thor itself is an idylic village in the plain of the Sorgue river, with mountains to the East, and Avignon itself to the West. A small walled village, with flat countryside full of orchards, asparagus plants, vineyards, cornfields and olive groves. I’m thankful for how flat it is around here, as it is very hot to walk around in the 38 degree heat!

Today was my first full day here, so I had a relaxing time winding down into the more relaxed way of life in Provence - which you really need to do, as going at any kind of speed in this heat really takes it out of you.

I had breakfast in the garden at 8.30am which consisted of jams, lavender honey, fresh breads, juice and hot chocolate. Later in the day we went for a 4 mile round trip up to town to buy some supplies, just the essentials - juice, milk, bread and cheese.

With so much to see in Provence, I am going to book onto a tour early next week, I really want to see the lavender fields, and learn some more about the history of the region, so I will definitely have more photos to share very soon.

Have any of you been to Avignon before, and have any tips to share with me?
