Le Coeurisier, Le Thor - Avignon, France

During my recent holiday in the South of France I stayed at Le Coeurisier. Le Coeurisier is in the little town of Le Thor, about 20 minute by train from Avignon. I stayed in the chamber d'Agathe, which is designed to accommodate 3 people, so was more than spacious for just the 2 of us. This eighteenth century farmhouse is exceptionally clean and spacious, and restored to the highest quality.

Our host Muriel picked us up from the train station on our first day rather than have us waiting for a taxi. Muriel was extremely pleasant throughout our stay, and has made this B&B really feel like a home form home.

Breakfast is served daily in the garden, between 8.30 and 10.30, and consists of fresh
bread, fruit, tea/coffee/hot-chocolate, juice, jams, and a different type of cake each day. Muriel makes the jams herself, and we tried various flavours each morning including fig jam, lavender jelly, cherry jam and strawberry jam. These homemade jams/preserves are available to buy from Muriel, I bought some of the lavender jelly and the cherry jam.

The most stunning thing about this property is most definitely the gardens, which I could happily spend all day in. Seating areas are scattered all around, which means there is always somewhere shady to laze around, and usually a cat to keep you company! I spotted many butterflies amongst the lavender plants, as well as a hummingbird (though having done some research, it was perhaps a hummingbird-moth!).

The only downside was the fact that it was just so so hot this year in Provence, around 10 degrees hotter than it was last year - which made getting out and about a lot more tiring when staying in such a remote place. Many of the other guests seemed to have cars with them - so could easily pop out and do some sightseeing. I think a bike would be brilliant in this area - the land is very flat, and there is very little traffic around.

I would definitely stay here again - the slow pace of life was such a welcome break from London.
